More details have come to light regarding the free version of Portal on Steam. In my earlier post, I revealed that Portal was now available for free from Steam. However, it now appears that the deal is for a limited time only. Until the 20th of September, Portal is indeed free. And if you claim your version, it will stay free. But for anyone who misses the window, Portal will stay locked and purchasable.
So whilst Valve isn't being quite as philanthropic as I'd assumed, they're still giving away a great game for free, albiet for a limited time.
