The latest Deus Ex: Human Revolution patch on the PC has stealthily added advertisements to the game. I was fine with this revelation, until I saw that the ads themselves were on the loading screens, rather than the in-game billboards.
I was fine with ads in-game, on the billboards. I felt it added a certain authenticity to the game, certainly in a future where corporations reign as they do in Human Revolution's vision of the future. But on the loading screens is too much. The loading screens are too numerous as it is, and far too long. I don't want an ad popping up halfway through my game.
And since the game is on Steam, there's no option to opt-out, unless you don't sign into Steam for the rest of your life.
